We are excited to collaborate with Talho Do Mar (The Sea Butchers) for this tasting event to celebrate Portugal’s deep connection with the Atlantic and a menu celebrating the fantastic fish from these famous shores.
Embark on a culinary journey to Portugal without leaving London! Our exclusive tasting event invites you to indulge in the rich flavours of Portugals finest wines paired with exquisite fresh fish.
You will be joining us for a demonstration with a celebrated Portuguese chef – Rodrigo Alves chef from The Chiltern Fire House and Nuno Nobre – food systems consultant & fisherman cook. Both passionate about sustainable fishing, preserving the sea and eating seasonally.
Joined by a wine tasting and Portuguese wine makerwho will pair wines throughout the evening, showcasing the best wine pairings from this region.
The demonstration will incudes dishes created with Portuguese staples such as sardines, horse mackerel and mackerel, highlighting their flavours and versatility.
This event is perfect for food and wine lovers looking to expand their culinary horizons. Whether youre a seasoned gourmand or simply curious, youll leave with new skills, delicious recipes, and a deeper appreciation for Portugals rich gastronomic heritage.
About your hosts:
Nuno Nobre is a strategic consultant specialising in valuing sustainable food systems for over 25 years with governments, authorities and stakeholders in several countries, and brands such as Michelin or National Geographic. He is a project manager at the UN and EU, professor at the Lusfona University and founder of the Sea Urchin Festival in Ericeira. Ouriaria is the cooking project of Nuno as a fisherman cook to raise awareness about sustainable ways to eat seafood.
Rodrigo Alves is a chef at his own gastronomic project “Ao Lume” and at Chiltern Firehouse in London. He has been living and working in London for several years, in addition to travelling the world whenever he can to inspire himself and discover new food cultures. His cuisine is a creative connection between these travels and his memories of Portugal.

Each Tasting will be a unique gastronomic experience, in which participants can observe, interpret and taste authentic flavours in a traditional way and with innovative traditional conservation techniques such as drying, smoking, salting, marinades, marine charcuterie, among others, learning about the origin and preparation techniques of each family’s products, harmonised by Portuguese wines that enhance each ingredient, dish and flavours.

All events include tastings after the demonstrations to you can sample the fantastic dishes & multiple way to create delicious plates from the freshest of fish.

Participants will be permanently accompanied by teams of chefs from Talho do Mar, Divertimenti Cookery Academy and with the presence of wine producers and sommeliers to transfer knowledge and pedagogy on choosing wines and pairing them with the use of local and seasonal ingredients.
